Supporting yourself and others

Mental health problems such as depression and anxiety are common, with an estimated 1 in 4 adults experiencing a mental health issue in their lifetime. Training staff to identify and understand symptoms in the workplace and beyond can be a crucial way to support someone who may have a mental health issue.

You should consider ways to manage mental ill health in your workplace, which are appropriate for your business, such as raising awareness, providing training for line managers and colleagues, implementing employee assistance programmes or appointing First Aiders for Mental Health.
