What is a Workplace Needs Assessment?
A workplace needs assessment will assess an individual’s workplace challenges and will be followed by a report detailing suitable recommendations of support, often referred to as reasonable adjustments.
Reasonable adjustments can include specialist equipment, assistive technology and coping strategy coaching and can often be implemented at little or no cost, if the individual is eligible for an Access to Work grant.
Who conducts the assessment?
A workplace needs assessment should be carried out by a qualified workplace needs assessor who has experience of supporting neurodivergent people in the workplace.
Our Assessors have undertaken the British Dyslexia Association’s Workplace Assessor Programme and have been awarded an OCN Level 4 qualification validated by the British Dyslexia Association.
What ‘conditions’ are covered?
Our Assessors are able to provide workplace needs assessments for the following ‘co-occurring’ processing differences/neurodivergent ‘conditions’:
- ADHD and
- ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder).
Who should attend?
The assessment will take place between the individual receiving the assessment and the workplace needs assessor, and will last approximately 2 hours.
A separate 30 minute face-to-face or online meeting will take place with the individual’s line manager to discuss how they can support the individual and provide some information about neurodivergent ‘conditions’.
When will I receive the workplace needs assessment report?
You will receive a report within 10 working days and we are available to explain anything that may be unclear.
